Booked an 8 bed room (4 bunks) for a stag group from the UK. Location - No where near the centre of Amsterdam. From Centraal Station take the free ferry over the river which departs every 5mins. The journey takes less then a minute. Then a 25/30min walk to the hostel through a 'sketchy' area. Arrival - Main door was locked. Knocked a number of times. 5mins later an Asian man answers the door telling us to 'chill out' with the knocking. No apology. Stepped inside to be hit with a strong smell of a Pakistani curry house/corner shop if you get my drift. Overpowering. No reception. Stood in the hallway, he asked us to pay up €24 City tax before handing the key over. One key between 8 of us for the room & main entrance. Advised checkout was 10am. Room - The 8 bed dorm wasn't actually too bad. Clean bedding and the whole room was pretty comfortable and clean. All you can ask for at the price you pay. Shared shower room with 2 showers and only 1 toilet cubical for the whole floor. In summery. Rooms not too bad but the location is awful. Would definitely pay a little extra to stay closer to the centre. Tip - If you want to get an Uber/Taxi to the centre then ask to go the ferry terminal rather than the station on the other side of the river. The ferry is free. Will save you €10/15 in a taxi fare.

My sons stag weekend, great place for this type of break, 6 beds (3 bunks) shared bathroom, showers etc, but was clean and served its purpose, a little out from the centre, but the free ferry and walk was worth the saving in staying

From the UK Very friendly staff helped with the situation of flight being delayed with emails back & forth very understanding with no fee.. thankful for that! Very clean rooms, clean sheets & bedding.. bathroom & shower rooms shared (understandable) as clean as you can make it with the circumstances! Not far from ferry to main land , not much around with a few supermarkets ect. Although quiet & relaxing area not much around but ferry is open free til 12 pm !

Worst guest house ever. If you arrive after 9 pm it's 10€/hour late. Check out at 10am (not 10:01am !!) The rooms are filthy and the temperature is about 30°C inside. No common spaces to meet people, there are only (bad) rooms and (bad) bathrooms in the hotel. Better go to the camping or pay the double to have a decent room in the center. The personel is just there to get the money not to help you.

Cheap stay for one night in Amsterdam, as they provide a room for up to 6 people. Easy to get a bus into the city centre. But the rooms and bed sheets were dirty, the bathroom had an extremely strong smell which wasn't pleasant, and you can hear everything through the walls.
